From the automobile to multimodal and manyfolded connected mobility – Cluster automotiveland.nrw at IAA Mobility
The automotive cluster of North Rhine-Westphalia automotiveland.nrw and its association of the same name are presenting an automotive sector in the nucleus of a sucessful transformation at the IAA Mobility in Munich.
"automotiveland.nrw" is also the umbrella brand of this year's NRW joint booth of the NRW Ministry for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy at the IAA Mobility 2021 from Sept. 7-12 in Hall B1, Stand No. D 70.
Sustainability, digitalization and complexity require a new understanding of the roles of suppliers and the automotive industry.
The cluster initiative automotiveland.nrw and its affiliated association automotive-land.nrw e.V. are setting the tone on IAA for suppliers in NRW in the transformation process.
The modern car is a computer on wheels, becoming part of a more comprehensive mobility and sym-bolizing the disruptive change. It is no longer horsepower, but computing and AI-based services and AI operating functions like user experience are becoming the „product differentiating“ factor. With projects such as „ Bergisch.Smart_Mobility - AI as an enabler of tomorrow's mobility“ and the Center for Automated Mobility - CAMO.NRW, we have already implemented major projects that are shaping the changing structures. With the establishment of a power electronics cluster, we will work together with important automotive suppliers to make the coupling of e-drive technology with the charging infrastructure and the power supply in the municipalities (sector coupling) future-proof. The cluster and the automotive industry are thus active shapers of the energy transition. This includes initiatives on hydrogen.
Networking on the international mobility platform: IAA Mobility
Under the umbrella of automotiveland.nrw, 8 suppliers, companies and universities from the NRW automotive industry will be presenting themselves at the joint automotiveand.nrw booth, and a whole range of other companies will be using the infrastructure for business contacts.
WSW-Cab:
Eye-catcher at the autootiveland.nrw booth
One of the main topics at the stand is the Bergisch.Smart_Mobility project.
One of the six so-called London Taxis, the "WSW-Cabs", awaits the
visitors. This " Get me! App" transport service offered by the
Wuppertal municipal utility is part of the "Ber-gisch.Smart.Mobility"
research project, in which a consortium of companies, universities and
municipalities are developing digital mobility solutions. Participants include
the cities of Wuppertal, Solingen and Remscheid as well as Bergische
Universität.
Press briefing on the IAA Mobility press day:
On September 6, the IAA Mobility press day, automotiveland.nrw will host a
press briefing at 12 p.m. to present the booth, the participating companies and
the current topics, activities and trends surrounding the transformation.
Silicon Wadi meets NRW suppliers
The following Wednesday, Sept. 8th. automotiveland.nrw will meet 14 Israeli
start-ups at the IAA Mobility. The start-ups are presenting their innovations for digitalization and
electrification on the IAA Mobility trade show. Together with the Consulate
General of the State of Israel in Munich, the NRW Automotive Cluster has
organized this technology meeting. Big Data, data security, simulation
software, AI, sensor technologies and technology for e-mobility are the focus.
automotiveland.nrw e.V. speaks at the IAA Conference
As a cluster, automotiveland.nrw was founded in 2019 with the goal of
supporting companies in NRW, especially suppliers, in their transformation and
networking the various stakeholders. In this role, automotiveland.nrw e.V. has
been invited by the VDA to participate in the panel to discuss:
"Transforming to new strengths - How business locations need to adapt to
the transformation of the automotive industry". This is because the
cluster was founded primarily through the inspiration of supplier companies
with a view to the upcoming disruptive change in the automotive industry.
"We see great opportunities in the transformation. A recent study on the
economic outlook gives NRW a tailwind. It is of course a real task and clearly
the role of suppliers will change, but in the end we can be successful."
This is the credo that Stephan Vogelskamp, in his role as managing director of
automotiveland.nrw e.V., wants to express in the discussion on the so called „Expert
Stage“ Panel, which is also to be livestreamed. Date: Thursday, Sept. 9, 12:00
- 12:45 p.m., Hall A1 / EXPERT STAGE.
The experts from the automotiveland.nrw cluster will be
available at the trade show until Sept. 12 to discuss transformation-related
topics and research projects, because it is important to demonstrate to an
international audience the important role of suppliers and the automotive
industry for North Rhine-Westphalia and their active role in the transformation
process from automobiles to mobility - at an IAA Mobility that presents this
transformation like no other trade show today.
